Live Long and Prosper

Dear Blogger,

It has been a really long day today. I've just got home from Grammar & Vocabulary class at Napier. Again, I'm way past my bedtime.

Brought back two Syrian hamsters yesterday. The owner said they are males, but who knows. They were born on 27 June, so that makes them about a month and a half old. We're calling them Groot and Rocket. Obviously, we're big fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Awesome movie by the way.

This is the first time we've got Syrian hamsters. Previously, we only had dwarfs, which is much smaller than Syrians. Besides the bigger size, Syrians are known for their gorgeous golden coats. Their behaviours are definitely different from dwarfs. I notice they like to dig a lot.

I haven't really seen my children today. Yes, I fetched them from school, but I've to rush to my class after that. It's days like these that make me feel guilty being a working/study mom. Already as it is, my children are growing up in a blink of an eye. How many more moments do I have to miss their childhood?

It's always a struggle isn't it? I wonder if fathers feel the same way. I know my husband keeps saying how often he missed their milestones, but when he's here, I notice he doesn't see the children for who they really are. What he sees are what he expects to see about them.

I'm just trying to do the best I can in my different roles; a working woman, a student, a mother, and a wife. The harder thing to do is to really enjoy the moment, enjoy the journey, because we get caught up in the grind of daily life.

We want quality of life, and we expect quality of life. But how can we deserve quality of life when we're not giving quality of life? Now that I'm older, and hopefully wiser, I've learnt that I have to give first before I can take.

So, for my children to live a life of quality, I have to give them quality time and energy. It's all very subjective, but that's the beauty of life isn't it? It's not about the how much. It's about the how well. So, live life to the best of your abilities, and forgive yourself if you don't.
